Vectors

Vectors are a collection of straight or curved segments. These objects can be scaled to any size without losing detail or clarity. Shapes like rectangles and circles, as well as text, are vector objects.

Bitmaps

Also called raster images, bitmaps are formed by a grid of small dots (known as pixels) to represent images. Each pixel is assigned a specific location and color value. A low resolution bitmap image can appear jagged when printed.

PostScript

Images can be described using a page-description language known as PostScript. These objects can contain a combination of vector and bitmap images. When imported into your document, PostScript objects can be parsed and previewed.

OLE

OLE is the abbreviation for Object Linking and Embedding, which is available only in Windows. OLE is a compound document standard developed by Microsoft. It enables you to create objects with one application and then link or embed them in your document.
